This Book Karnali Blues is very nice and touchy one. And his death changes the lives of his wife and son forever. A truly nepali society describing book written by buddhisagar.

Though bluws main character is the father, the writer also adds a major chunk of his life into it while holding the story and bblues it together with several in-and-out characters like Parvati Didi, Ekraj, Mamata Didi, Sharmila, Chandre, Bhagiram, Batu, Sadham, Mandire, Ramesh, Shiva Shankar etc. The sentences are short, the descriptions soaked in original local textures and the humor gels so well to make the reading enjoyable and quick.

I liked his writing style.

A change in mind takes the narrator to Kalikot instead of Surkhet. Beside you can find them in Nepali Novel section.

An outstanding story that traces the bond between a son and his father, as seen through the son’s eyes and minds.


Buddhisagar makes you reminisce your childhood and after finishing the book you’d be emotionally obliged to hug your father. Karnali Blues is a story of growing up. It makes you laugh and you can’t help it. Paperbackpages. The narrator remembers his childhood in Kailali and Kalikot as his father lies paralyzed in a hospital at Nepalgunj. The journey with this book was amazing.

Book Review – Karnali Blues: Story of Rural Nepal

This novel runs around the relationship between a Father and a son and Childhood memories. Jul 21, Shilpa bagla rated it liked it. His father, in search of better life for the family, keeps them moving from blyes village to another until they finally settle in Kalikot. Furthermore, the author’s simplistic language and usage of words are spot on.
