There might be spoilers in the comments because this is one of those books you’ll want to talk about with friends. As an aside, I was emailing another reader of Nesbo and one comic said, “what’s with the o’s with a slash through them and the little o’s over some letters? I think you have to find something about yourself that you like in order to survive.

A large part of the book is laid at the time of the Second World War — specifically, the Siege of Leningradwartime Vienna and the Bombing of Hamburg — making The Redbreast a war novel as well as a crime novel.
