My friend Harry who is much more cosmopolitan than I am, shared the correct pronunciation with me. Granted, I readily admit that I am not cosmopolitan. He has no idea who the owner is, or what he intends to do with the rifle.

It gave me a headache. I have to say, I felt a little bit confused during the first chapters: In addition, a group of Neo-Nazis — with which Hole has a prior history — is suspected in the murder of an elderly drunkard. This book has over pages, a long book actually.

After shooting a suspected assassin during the approach of the President’s convoy, Hole is promoted to inspector and investigates a crime involving a very expensive sniper rifle.

This one is hard for me to rate. Nesbo — and history — tells a different, more complicated story. Recommended for fans of Nordic crime novels. Harry is an ardent Harry Hole fan, just ask him.
A large part of the book is laid at the time of the Second World War — specifically, the Siege of Leningradwartime Vienna and the Bombing of Hamburg — making The Redbreast a war novel as well as a crime novel.
