A few days ago, I wrote a research paper dkgar historical fiction and the Holocaust for my PhD applications. Lee, this might actually be a pretty boy friendly book, I am sure there are things that a boy could identify with in it. It is, for the most part, a delicate, poised and scrupulous re-enactment. There were many who did not want to see this Anne Frank.

It always tears me up to read about the Holocaust and the events that happened to the prisoners in the concentration camps. My favorite part of the story is when Peter goes into hiding with his family. Once he is inside the annex, Peter just wants to sleep. Dogar effortlessly captures the feeling of isolation and uses the tone to convey how forgotten people in concentration camps felt.
